The number 4 in Asia

Another popular superstition in Asia is related to the digit 4. Fear of this number comes from the fact that the pronunciation of the Japanese or Chinese to English Translation of the word ‘four’ sounds similar to the pronunciation of the word ‘death’. In Asia mobile phones that have a 4 digit keypad are cheaper, many buildings have no 4th floor and even some high-rise residential buildings in Hong Kong omit floors that have number 4 – the 4th, 14th, 24th, 40th to 49th.  And this superstition is spread not only in Asia. For example, Nokia cell phones have no series starting with 4, if you have a look at Cannon Power ShotG series you will mention that after G3 comes G5.
